Life Enrichment

Quality of Life is a high priority at Washington Care Service. We take our fun and games seriously! Our residents’ leisure needs are important and we take pride in offering both individual and group activities that cover a wide range of interests.

Music is the universal language and Washington Care Service residents have access to outside entertainers who play everything from folk to jazz to marimbas. Some musical groups are participatory and still others feature youth musicians from the community.

We offer baking, floral arranging, mindful meditation, arts & crafts and Chair Zumba classes. Residents enjoy trivia, crossword games, horse races, golf and bingo throughout the year. Many local church groups provide one on one ministry as well as group services.  In addition, the Life Enrichment Department celebrates Washington Care Service’s diversity by inviting a multitude of ethnic performers into the facility to entertain with events such as: the Chinese Lion Dance, African drum circle, Filipino and Japanese Dancers, Hula and many more.

Each resident’s background and preferences are taken into consideration with the goal of providing the most comprehensive and enjoyable life enrichment program possible for each individual. Resident’s are also provided weekly one-on-one program for added socialization and/or assistance with various personal projects at hand ranging from basic computer skills, gardening, nails/spa, arts/crafts, woodcraft, and numerous other hobbies.

We offer specialized programs for our Memory Support residents tailored to their specific needs and interests. Residents are offered a variety of services from the library activity cart, pet visits, Friend to Friend of America companionship visits to small sensory groups offered throughout the day.

We now offer Cognitive Stimulating Classes for our residents of higher functioning. Classes are offered weekly basis. Cognitive Stimulating Classes offers resident an opportunity to build neuron elasticity and to help delay the process of memory loss. The class offers fun and interactive games/tasks with other participants. The class is offered by Certified Cognitive Stimulating Instructors the Life Enrichment Team!

Our partnership with our local schools provides weekly inter-generational programs during the school year offering bowling with John Muir Elementary students and fun with Franklin High School students. Inter-generational programs foster cooperation and promote interaction among different generations.

We welcome pets at our community. To ensure the safety of our residents, guests and staffs please provide proper documentation prior to bringing your pet.
